Color photographic materials with better (green) sharpness have tabular crystal layers with defined crystal thickness relationships and green-sensitive layer further than red-sensitive layer from transparent support

Summary:Same sensitivity class red-sensitive, blue-green coupling (BG-1) and green-sensitive, magenta coupling (PP-1) Ag halide emulsions in a color photographic material with PP-1 further from the transparent support than BG-1 are such that (a) BG-1 and PP-1 each have \-50% of their projected surfaces of tabular crystals of aspect ratio \-2; and (b) the average crystal thickness of the tabular crystals in BG-1 is \-50nm and is \-30% lower than for the PP-1 tabular crystals. A color photographic material with the following Ag halide emulsion layers (i) blue-sensitive, largely yellow coupling, (ii) red-sensitive, largely blue-green coupling (BG-1) and (iii) green-sensitive, largely magenta coupling (PP-1) such that PP-1 is further from the transparent support than BG-1 and these latter 2 emulsions are of the same sensitivity class, is characterized by (a) emulsions BG-1 and PP-1 each having \-50% of their projected surfaces of tabular crystals of aspect ratio \-2; and (b) the average crystal thickness of the tabular crystals in BG-1 being \-50nm and being \-30% lower than for the PP-1 tabular crystals.
