An optical fiber liquid level sensor of leaking mode comprises two pieces of optical fibers that are reverse folded into paper clip shape or flask shape opening; one piece is measuring optical fiber, and the other piece is reference optical fiber. an optical leakage section is used to measure the side damage at the coating of the external side of a straight line section of the paper clip shaped or flask shaped opening of the measuring optical fiber, the head and end of the two optical fibers are arranged with optical fiber joints, the optical leaking section can be covered with sealed transparent sleeve which is filled with reference liquid, the diameter of the semicircle at the bottom of measuring optical fiber and reference optical fiber is bigger than 8 folds of the optical fiber diameter. The optical fiber liquid level sensor of leaking mode of the utility model has the advantages of low price, no movable parts, reliable use, precise measurement, and hence is particularly applicable to various kinds of oil storage equipments, and more extensively applied to sensors added with reference liquid.
