Abstract The utility model relates to an instrument for selectively extracting components from a biological sample. The instrument provides filtration for concentrating analytes, such as bacteria or exosomes, of a biological sample, such as blood or urine. The technique may employ a membrane device that implements one or more tangential flow filtration processes, such as in stages. An example membrane device may generally include a membrane having an end face and an end portion. The membrane may selectively allow one or more components of the sample to pass through while retaining other components at one side. The input chamber of the device may include an inlet near one end and an outlet near the other end, and may allow tangential flow of the sample along the first side, as well as transmembrane passage of one or more components. The output chamber of the device may be configured at the second end face to receive passing components. Such devices may be provided in a kit to facilitate targeting a desired bioanalyte c
