Abstract The utility model relates to a magnetic encoder which is composed of an oil slinger and a magnetic portion. The oil slinger comprises a cylindrical portion capable of being embedded externally on a rotating body and a flange portion formed in an expanding manner from outside in a radial direction of the cylindrical portion. The magnetic portion is annular and installed on the outside surface of the flange portion of the oil slinger. The oil slinger is made of magnetic material. The magnetic portion is made of plastic magnetic material. The inside surface of the flange portion becomes a sealing lip sliding contact portion. The value of surface roughness of the sealing lip sliding contact portion is less than the value of surface roughness of a magnetic installation portion of the flange portion.
