The overflow dam comprises a dam body, wherein the dam body is provided with an overflow surface with a gradient; a plurality of gate piers are arranged at the upper part of the dam body; a gate chamber is formed by two adjacent gate piers; the flaring pier is arranged on two inner side walls of the lower part of each gate chamber; and a picking ridge is arranged at the top of the flaring pier. The picking flow type flaring pier is high in energy dissipation and relatively good in anti-scouring effect; and the application range of a flaring pier energy dissipation technology can be expanded to waterhead engineering under the conditions of low dams, medium dams, low flow, high Froude's number, shallow tail water and the like. |
