An image pickup device requiring comparatively little cost and manufacturing complexity and capable of easily performing focus adjustment with a high accuracy and a mobile terminal device using the image pickup device. The image pickup device (100) includes a mirror frame (3), a cover member (3d) attached to the mirror frame (3) in such a manner that it can move along the optical axis (Y), a first pressing member (6) elastically arranged between the cover member (3d) and an optical member (1) so as to press the optical member (1) toward a substrate, and a second pressing member (7) elastically arranged between the mirror frame (3) and the optical member (1) so as to press the optical member (1) toward the cover member (3d). When the optical member (1) is in abutment with the upper surface of an image pickup element (2), the first pressing member (6) has a greater pressing force than the second pressing member (7) and the cover member (3d) moves forward along the optical axis (Y) over a predetermined distance. Then, the pressing force of the second pressing member (7) becomes greater than the pressing force of the first pressing member (6) and the optical member (1) moves forward along the optical axis (Y) so as to be brought into abutment with a protruding portion (3e) protruding from the inner circumference of the mirror frame (3).
