Abstract PURPOSE: A method for automatically controlling the power of a mobile communication terminal is provided to automatically turn on/off the power of a terminal by a booting option preset by a user, even though the user does not directly press a power key after replacing a terminal battery. CONSTITUTION: When power is applied from an external power source or a replaced battery in a power-off state, a terminal drives a booting program. The terminal checks a booting option set by a user according to the driving of the booting program. If an automatic booting option is set, the terminal continuously performs a booting process. If the automatic booting option is not set, the terminal stops the booting process while automatically turning off the power of the terminal.
