The present invention discloses a combination of creatine and at least one of oleuropein or a metabolite thereof, which can be used for oral administration to a subject in an effective amount to achieve at least one of (i) improve mitochondrial calcium uptake in muscle cells, (ii) improve calcium utilization in muscle cells, (iii) increase energy of mitochondrial in muscle cells, in some embodiments, the methods may include (v) improve at least one of muscle function, muscle performance, net muscle mass, or muscle strength, (v) reduce muscle fatigue, (vi) enhance mobility, and/or (vii) treat muscle diseases associated with calcium depletion or deficiency.
