Abstract | The purpose of the present invention is to provide a gear member having high hardness of a surface layer of a tooth root and excellent bending fatigue strength. The gear member according to the present invention is characterized in that the surface layer of the tooth root includes a portion in which the area ratio of carbides is 10% or less and the number density of carbides is 6/10 [mu] m2 or less.
