The invention relates to a root cause positioning method based on a fault propagation graph. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining operation and maintenance metadata; constructing a fault propagation graph according to the operation and maintenance metadata; and carrying out root cause positioning on the fault propagation graph by using a second-order random walk algorithm. According to the method, the component deployment relation, abnormal information, system data and the like in the system are fully utilized, a fault propagation graph between system components is constructed through a relation learning algorithm and a configuration management database CMDB, the similarity between adjacent nodes is calculated, root cause positioning is conducted on the fault propagation graph through a second-order random walk algorithm, and the fault propagation graph is subjected to fault diagnosis. A score list of all nodes in the graph is obtained, the higher the score is, the more likely the components ar
