Summary:Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a signal indicating a respective execution condition of a conditional handover (CHO) procedure for each of one or more candidate handover groups, the one or more candidate handover groups including a candidate cell group and a candidate relay group, and each candidate handover group being associated with a different priority level. The UE may select a handover candidate for performing the CHO procedure based at least in part on a determination that the respective execution condition is satisfied for one or more handover candidates in the one or more candidate handover groups and based on the respective priority level of the one or more candidate handover groups.
