Abstract | Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a cell ventilation system and a cell ventilation method. A corrugated battery module cover may be integrated over the battery module, where the corrugated cover includes a plurality of crests and troughs to form one or more gas exhaust channels. The plurality of crests and troughs may be disposed so as to at least partially enclose the at least one cell to form an enclose space. The enclosure may accumulate gas escaping from the at least one cell to a maximum atmospheric pressure. One or more pressure relief mechanisms may be associated with the plurality of enclosure spaces and integrated with the battery module cover. In response to the gas pressure accumulated in the enclosed space exceeding the maximum atmospheric pressure, gas may be automatically released by a pressure release mechanism and expelled along the channels between the peaks.
