Abstract | The invention is suitable for the technical field of photovoltaic equipment diagnosis, and particularly relates to a fault diagnosis method and system for a photovoltaic module, and the method comprises the steps: constructing a photovoltaic module position matrix according to the arrangement position of the photovoltaic module; randomly selecting two groups of photovoltaic modules to be detected according to the photovoltaic module position matrix, performing on-off switching processing on the photovoltaic modules, and recording real-time generating capacity data of the DC combiner box; judging and determining a low-generating-capacity photovoltaic module, randomly selecting a group of photovoltaic modules to be detected again, performing on-off switching processing, and repeating the step; and carrying out statistics on the on-off switching times of each photovoltaic module, judging whether each photovoltaic module has a fault or not based on a statistical result, and generating a fault diagnosis result.
