Abstract The invention relates to a device for measuring carbon isotope at a middle carbon position of propane and application of the device. The measuring device comprises a sample gas pipeline, a first carrier gas pipeline, a second carrier gas pipeline, a third carrier gas pipeline, a first eight-way valve, a second eight-way valve, a chemical trap, a hydrogenolysis reactor, a first cold trap, a second cold trap, a third cold trap and gas chromatograph-stable isotope mass spectrometry equipment. The application comprises the step of detecting the carbon isotope at the middle carbon position in propane by adopting the device, and specifically comprises the following steps: feeding a sample gas to be detected through the gas inlet passage, then carrying out hydrogenolysis on a material obtained by feeding the sample through the hydrogenolysis passage, detecting the material subjected to hydrogenolysis through the detection passage, and calculating to obtain the carbon isotope at the middle carbon position of propane.
