Abstract | Absorbent structures and methods of manufacture are disclosed. In one embodiment, an absorbent structure may include a first layer, a second layer, and a mixture of particles and a binder disposed between the first layer and the second layer, the superabsorbent particles disposed at greater than 400 gsm and less than 600 gsm, and the binder disposed at greater than 4 wt% and less than 5 wt% of the weight of the particles. The adhesive can form a three-dimensional network structure, the network structure comprises network adhesive filaments, the superabsorbent particles are fixed within the network structure, and the network adhesive filaments extend substantially in a three-dimensional space defined by the network adhesive filaments and the superabsorbent particles, and wherein the absorbent structure has an SAM capture value of less than or equal to 98 according to the SAM capture test method.
