Abstract | A computer-implemented method of bounding spatial data associated with geometric boundaries of items mapped to one or more axis aligned 3D bounding boxes is disclosed. The geometric boundaries are arranged in each of all possible positions of a geometric upper bound item. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, dividing a set of bounding boxes in the x-axis direction by using a first group of intervals, and distributing a division identifier xpar; then dividing the set of bounding boxes in the y-axis direction by using a second group of intervals and distributing a division identifier yar; then dividing the set of bounding boxes in the z-axis direction by using a third group of intervals and distributing a division identifier zpar; the set of bounding boxes is then partitioned by partitioning an identification tuple (xpar, ypar, zpar). Preferably, bounding boxes with the same partition identification tuple are merged.
