Abstract The invention provides a speed reducer return difference measuring method based on machine vision and a speed reducer return difference machine vision measuring device applying the method. A shell marking pointer is fixed to a shell of a tested steering engine, and an output shaft marking pointer and a loading arm are installed on an output shaft of the tested steering engine; the output shaft marking pointer and the loading arm can synchronously rotate relative to the axis of the output shaft; based on the same concept, return differences of a single angle position and a plurality of angle positions of rotation of an output shaft of a tested steering engine are measured, and the rotation angle of a pointer is measured and marked through machine vision.
