A self-supporting lattice structure having a high strength weight ratio is provided. In one aspect, an additive manufactured structure is provided that includes a self-supporting lattice structure formed of a plurality of unit cells. Further, each unit cell includes a symmetric frame having a void or cutout extending through each side surface of the symmetric frame to define a female space therein.
