Abstract The invention discloses novel hydrophobic association type anionic polyacrylamide and a preparation method and application thereof, the hydrophobic association type anionic polyacrylamide is introduced into a hydrophilic block, the polarity is high, the water solubility is good, and therefore the hydrophobic association type anionic polyacrylamide can provide a good foundation for water serving as a dispersion medium in water-based ink; due to the electrostatic repulsive force of the sulfonic acid group, the obtained polyacrylamide is not in a curled state, the molecular chain of the polymer is more stretched, and the hydrophobic association effect is enhanced.
