Abstract | The invention discloses an electrochromic device and a manufacturing method thereof.The electrochromic device comprises an electrochromic layer, a first electrode layer and a second electrode layer, the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer act on the two opposite surfaces of the electrochromic layer respectively, and the material of the electrochromic layer comprises viologen; the material of the first electrode layer and/or the second electrode layer contains a transition metal material, and the transition metal material is selected from one or more of nickel, copper, silver, palladium, zinc, molybdenum, niobium and palladium. According to the invention, the transition metal-based (such as nickel and palladium) transparent conductive film which is easy to give out electrons is adopted, so that the holding time of a coloring state is greatly prolonged under the condition that the conductivity is not influenced, and large-area uniform and rapid color change is realized.
