The invention discloses an adhesive medical article having a backing layer having a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface. The backing layer has a central portion and an outer circumferential portion. The article also has a pressure sensitive adhesive pattern coating applied to at least a portion of the first major surface of the backing layer in a manner such that a plurality of adhesive coated regions and adhesive uncoated regions of the backing layer are formed.
