Abstract The invention provides a method for synthesizing lemonenitrile from methyl heptenone. The method comprises the following steps: reacting alkyl thioether with halogenated acetonitrile to obtain a cyanomethyl sulfosalt intermediate, and reacting methyl heptenone with cyanomethyl sulfosalt under the action of a base catalyst to obtain a limonenitrile product. The synthetic route is novel, the methyl heptenone, the chloroacetonitrile and the alkyl sulfide which are simple, easy to obtain and relatively low in cost are taken as starting raw materials, the lemonenitrile product is obtained through rapid reaction, the synthetic route is short, the reaction yield is high, and the method has relatively good potential economic value; secondly, inorganic iodized salt and a phase transfer catalyst are sequentially added in the synthesis reaction, and the iodized salt promotes rapid generation of cyanomethyl sulfosalt; the phase transfer catalyst promotes the dissolution of the inorganic base, effectively improves the rat
