Abstract | The invention is to enable sensing of abnormalities within a system from a combustion pipe to a detection unit without increasing installation costs. This instrument for elemental analysis comprises: a combustion pipe (2) having a sample injection opening (3) that opens upward, the combustion pipe (2) combusting a liquid sample in the interior thereof; a sample injection mechanism (6) having a nozzle (10) for injecting the sample into the combustion pipe, and a slider (8) that slides between a first position and a second position in an upper part of the combustion pipe (2), the slider (8) being configured so as to seal the sample injection opening (3) of the combustion pipe (2) when located at the first position, and so as to unseal the sample injection opening (3) and position the nozzle (10) above the sample injection opening (3) when located at the second position; a carrier gas supply flow path (26) for supplying a carrier gas into the combustion pipe (2), the carrier gas supply flow path (26) communicati |
