Abstract The invention provides a method and a device for measuring the length of a non-cold section of a high-speed wire. According to the characteristics of surface temperature difference of a high-speed wire rolled piece caused by water penetration and complete water penetration during water penetration cooling of the high-speed wire, a high-speed linear array infrared temperature measurement module and an analysis module are used for monitoring and analyzing the change characteristics of the surface temperature of the high-speed rolled piece along with time, the duration corresponding to the non-cold section of the rolled piece is obtained, online measurement of the length of the non-cold section of the high-speed wire is achieved in combination with the movement speed of the rolled piece, then a basis is provided for accurate shearing of the non-cold section of the rolled piece, and the quality problem of subsequent products caused by incomplete shearing of the non-cold section of the rolled piece and the problem
