Abstract The invention discloses a protection device for a hydrogen cylinder system of a hydrogen fuel passenger car. The protection device comprises a fixing device, a shearing bolt and a longitudinal buffer for three-stage protection. The fixing device and the frame are fixed to restrain the degree of freedom of the hydrogen bottle, so that the hydrogen bottle does not displace under the condition of tiny impact; when the vehicle is subjected to large longitudinal acceleration, the whole hydrogen cylinder fixing device still cannot be separated from the vehicle frame under the action of the shearing bolt and the related restraining device; when the longitudinal acceleration borne by the vehicle is too large, the shearing bolt is broken, the hydrogen cylinder fixing device is integrally separated from the vehicle frame and does reciprocating rectilinear motion in the sliding rail, and the longitudinal buffer serves as third-stage protection of the hydrogen cylinder fixing device, can play a role in buffering the hydr
