The invention discloses a fingerprint frequency estimation method and device. The method comprises the steps: carrying out the fingerprint segmentation of a fingerprint image, and obtaining a fingerprint effective region; performing multi-direction ridge interval and valley interval statistics on the preprocessed fingerprint image according to the fingerprint effective area to obtain a multi-direction ridge interval array and a multi-direction valley interval array; and determining the fingerprint frequency according to the multi-direction ridge interval array and the multi-direction valley interval array. The invention further discloses a fingerprint information extraction method and device.
