Abstract The invention discloses a small-modulus involute gear tooth profile error measurement method, which comprises the following steps: obtaining a gear tooth surface image and data thereof through an ST400 three-dimensional surface topography instrument, and storing a measurement result; opening the result file by using professional 3D, leveling the measured image and filling non-measurement points; rotating the tooth surface image to align the tooth surface texture with the coordinate axis; extracting an inner tooth profile belonging to an involute area, and exporting two-dimensional coordinate point data of the involute profile; importing two-dimensional data points into matlab, and fitting an involute implicit function equation by using a compressed particle swarm algorithm; setting the number of operation times of the algorithm, and outputting a result group of the minimum value of the fitting residual sum of squares; and calculating the tooth profile error of the gear through the fitting parameters.
