Abstract | The invention relates to an emergency venting device (16) for emergency venting of a battery (10), the emergency venting device (16) having a housing (12) of the battery (10). The housing (12) has an emergency vent opening (18), the emergency vent opening (18) being closed by a closing element (20). The closing element (20) is designed to open the emergency vent opening (18) in the event of exceeding a defined temperature and/or a defined pressure in order to discharge gas from the housing (12). The closing element (20) is affixed to a part of the outer surface of the housing (12).
