Abstract | The present invention relates to cylinder imbalance correction system and method, in particular to the systems and methods for determining and correcting air/fuel imbalance between cylinders of an internal combustion engine. The method includes determining and implementing a deactivation policy; evaluating whether the engine is operated in the presence of the air/fuel imbalance between the cylinders; when an imbalance is identified, implementing an alternative deactivation strategy; based on a result of the alternative deactivation strategy, identifying a source cylinder of air/fuel imbalance, and correcting the fuel flow to the source cylinder.
