Abstract | The invention relates to a drive device, a robot, and an image forming apparatus, which can improve the wear resistance and strength of a gear close to an output shaft on a drive transmission system path. A drive device in which the same output shaft (2) is rotated by two motors (9A, 9B), while sharing the external gear (5) and the carrier (2), two planetary gear mechanisms are configured so thatthe planetary gears (3A, 3B) and the sun gears (4A, 4B) are exclusively used, and drive is transmitted from the two electric motors (9A, 9B) to the respective sun gears (4A, 4B). A control mechanism (11) capable of reducing backlash is provided by two motors (9A, 9B). A brake capable of switching between operation and non-operation may also be provided in the drive transmission path up to the planetary gears (3A, 3B) corresponding to the respective motors (9A, 9B).
