Abstract | The invention relates to a method for purifying exhaust gas generated by an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas generated by the internal combustion engine is conducted through an exhaust gaspath that is equipped with at least one adsorption element (12a, 12b) to which pollutants contained in the exhaust gas at least partly bind. The at least one adsorption element (12a, 12b) is regenerated by at least partly desorbing the bound pollutants, and pollutants desorbed from the at least one adsorption element (12a, 12b) during the desorption process are stored in at least one storage unit.
