Abstract The invention discloses a low-loss transformer employing a skin effect. The low-loss transformer comprises a transformer core, a winding inner frame, a rectangular cross-section wire and an interlayerinsulator, wherein the winding inner frame sleeves the iron core, the rectangular cross-section wire is wound around the winding inner frame, the interlayer insulator is used for spacing each layer of winding which is wound, a skin groove is formed in a surface of the rectangular cross-section wire along a length direction of the wire, and an insulation liquid is introduced to the skin groove. Bythe rectangular cross-section wire with a skin groove structure, the winding loss of the winding under an alternating current is reduced, insulation liquid flowing passages and circulation efficiencyof the wire in the winding are improved, the effective cooling surface of the winding is expanded, so that the effects of reducing the temperature rising of the transformer winding and prolonging theservice lifetime of the tra
