| Summary: | The invention relates to the field of transportation system safety engineering, and especially relates to a method for evaluating safety of highways by utilizing actual driving speed data of road sections. For the problems that theories of conventional safety evaluation methods cannot fully reflect the driving speed changes of vehicles under complex alignment conditions, the method for evaluatingsafety of highways by utilizing actual driving speed data of road sections is provided. A novel method for evaluating safety of highways by using driving speed characteristics can be provided by adopting massive vehicle monitoring data collected by a vehicle mounted GPS technology to analyze the speed characteristics of different road unit types; and speed change rules can be obtained through analysis when the vehicles with different types drive on different unit types of a highway, and close combination of highway alignment and the actual driving speed of the vehicles has great significance.
