Abstract The invention discloses a device and method for detecting the roughness of the inner wall of a pipeline. A light source is disposed at one end of a pipeline to be detected, and a light intensity absorbing module and a signal processing module are arranged at the other end of the pipeline. When passing through the pipeline from one end of the pipeline, the light is bidirectionally reflected by thesurface of the inner wall of the pipeline due to the different roughness of the inner wall surface of the pipeline, thereby resulting in a change in the light intensity detected at the other end of the pipeline. The roughness of the inner wall surface of the pipeline can be determined according to the change of a light intensity value.
