Abstract The invention discloses a reagent for detecting sulfite in food. The reagent is prepared from components in parts by weight as follows: 20-30 parts of a detection reagent, 30-55 parts of a solvent, 15-20 parts of a filling agent, 2-5 parts of a wetting agent and 3-6 parts of a disintegrating agent; the detection reagent is prepared from components in parts by weight as follows: 23-32 parts of 5,5'-dithio bis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid), 3-5 parts of sodium silicate, 1-3 parts of potassium stearate, 4-7 parts of polyethylene glycol and 0.1-1 part of vitamin E.
