Abstract The invention relates to a drying kiln, and a method for auxiliarily drying a chromium-containing material by utilizing a hot waste gas through the drying kiln. The drying kiln comprises a feeding area, a heating area, a discharging area and a hot gas system. The hot gas system comprises a hot gas pipeline group, an exhaust pipeline, a first fan and a second fan. According to the device, the firstfan and the hot gas pipeline group are utilized for introducing a waste hot gas produced after the combustion of a fuel gas from an outer cavity of the heating area into an inner cavity of the discharging area; and the second fan is utilized for discharging the waste hot gas out of the drying kiln.
