Abstract The invention provides a method for calculating coal and rock industrial component contents based on well logging data. The method starts from a mechanism study, collects a large number of coal sample data, and preferably selects sensitive well logging parameters which have obvious effects for reflecting industrial components; a multiple regression interpretation model is established based on an ash content and a moisture content and the sensitivity of the well logging parameters; a fixed carbon content is further obtained through a superior linear relationship between the ash content and the fixed carbon content, and finally a volatile matter content is obtained according to a volume model of the coal and rock industrial components. According to the method, compared with the prior art, the calculation is reduced, and meanwhile, the calculation accuracy is greatly improved; through comparison between the experimental data and interpretation results, the error of the method is controlled at 5%; and the method
