Summary: | The invention discloses a method for purifying crude guaiacol catalytically synthesized from pyrocatechol and methanol. The method comprises the steps: firstly, subjecting the crude guaiacol to melt crystallization and heating-up sweating, so as to obtain high-purity guaiacol; separately collecting mother liquor remaining during crystallization and mother liquor generated during sweating, subjecting the mother liquor with the purity higher than 90% and raw materials to merging and direct crystallizing, subjecting an ingredient with the purity lower than 90% to rectification under vacuum to enrich guaiacol until crystallization requirements are met, and then, carrying out crystallization; and carrying out back-extraction treatment on a phthalic dimethyl ether enriched mixture obtained through rectification under vacuum, thereby obtaining pure phthalic dimethyl ether.
