Abstract | The present invention is capable of producing a fluorinated Alpha-ketocarboxylic ester hydrate by reacting a fluorinated Alpha-hydroxycarboxylic ester with sodium hypochlorite or calcium hypochlorite, the amount thereof being 21 mass% or larger with respect to the composition. Furthermore, by reacting the hydrate with a dehydrating agent, a fluorinated Alpha-ketocarboxylic ester can be produced. By reacting the fluorinated Alpha-ketocarboxylic ester hydrate with a lower alcohol or a trialkyl orthocarboxylate, a fluorinated Alpha-ketocarboxylic ester hemiketal can be produced. Furthermore, by reacting the hemiketal with a dealcoholizing agent, a fluorinated Alpha-ketocarboxylic ester can be produced.
