Abstract The invention relates to a twisting device, a tandem twisting device and a method for fitting a twisting head. The invention firstly relates to the twisting device (1a, 1b) comprising: a rotatable twisting head (4, 4b) with a plurality of receiving parts (12) for individual leads (L) of a cable to be twisted, and a fitting device (7; 17) for sequentially fitting the individual leads (L) to the receiving parts (12). The fitting device (7) is configured to be moved to a transfer position which is the same for all individual leads (L) in order to fit the twisting head (4, 4b). The twisting head (4, 4b) is configured to rotate receiving parts (12) free of the twisting head to a matched take-over position so as to fit the individual leads (L) to the receiving parts (12).
