Summary: | Disclosed is apparatus and method for motion tracking in brain imaging. The method comprises providing a light projector and a first camera, wherein the arranged light projector and first camera include a first optical fiber having a near end and a far end, the near end of the first optical fiber is optically coupled to the light projector, and the far end of the first optical fiber is positioned in a scanner hole; projecting a first pattern sequence (S1) onto a surface region of the subject with the light projector, the first pattern sequence comprising a first primary pattern (P1, 1), and the first pattern sequence being projected through the first optical fiber; detecting the projected first pattern sequence (S1') with the first camera; and determining motion tracking parameters based on the detected first pattern sequence (S1'). The subject is positioned in the scanning hole of a medical scanner.
