The invention discloses a preparation method of trisodium glycyrhetate, wherein the preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) adding glycyrrhizic acid or salt thereof into a diluted ethanol solution, heating and dissolving, adding activated carbon for decolorization, filtering and cooling; and (2) adding hot sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate solution to the cooled solution, regulating pH value, and stirring and purifying to obtain trisodium glycyrhetate. According to the preparation method of trisodium glycyrhetate, a toxic solvent is not adopted, side reactions are fewer, safety and environment-friendly effects are achieved, and the prepared trisodium glycyrhetate product is high in yield, low in cost, and high in content.
