Abstract | The invention provides a method for surface modification of graphene by rare earth. The method comprises the following steps: roughening the surface of the graphene to generate oxygen-containing groups such as hydroxyl, carboxyl and an epoxy group by the characteristic that various atoms and molecules can be adsorbed and desorbed by the graphene; then mixing the graphene with a rare earth nitrate solution after the surface of the graphene is roughened; generating a complex by surface groups and rare earth cations; and finally carrying out reduction to obtain the graphene subjected to surface modification by the rare earth. The method has the beneficial effects that by the strong electromagnetic interaction between the oxygen-containing groups on the surface of the graphene and the rare earth ions, the rare earth ions are adsorbed to the surface of the graphene, the process is simple and easy to operate, an impurity phase is not guided in, and the rare earth ions and the graphene are combined well.
