Abstract The invention discloses a plutonium component container automatic adjustment method and a plutonium component container automatic adjustment device, and belongs to the field of nuclear component automatic adjustment in nuclear component certification in nuclear disarmament verification. The method of the invention is implemented through the steps of preparation, gamma measurement, dead time calculation, data analysis and judgment, and final position determination. A motor, a connecting structure and a container bracket in the plutonium component container automatic adjustment device are connected in turn. The computer and software of a control unit control the automatic operation, measurement and data collection of the whole device. According to the invention, a container containing plutonium components can be quickly adjusted to a target position, the neutron detection efficiency in actual measurement can be consistent with the detection efficiency calibrated before measurement, the count rate of a gamma ray
