Abstract The present invention provides a parking space monitoring system and method which are applied to a roadside parking space structure parking lot. The system comprises binocular structure snap devices arranged at snap positions, a network switching device connected with the plurality of binocular structure snap devices, and a monitoring computer connected with the network switching device; and one camera of the binocular structure snap device is used for snapping the target images of vehicles entering front parking spaces, and the other camera of the binocular structure snap device is used for snapping the target images of vehicles entering rear parking spaces.
