Abstract The invention discloses a current protector and a manufacturing method. The insulated shell of the current protector comprises two mutually-fit shell bodies; each shell body comprises an inner-layer plate body and an outer-layer plate body; a center groove and an end groove are arranged at the inner side of each inner-layer plate body; the center grooves of the two inner-layer plate bodies together form an accommodating cavity for accommodating a metal melt; end grooves of the two inner-layer plate bodies together form a welding cavity; and two end caps coat two ends of the two inner-layer plate bodies and two ends of the two outer-layer plate bodies respectively. Structures, such as, grooving, of the outer-layer plate bodies and the inner-layer plate bodies can be manufactured separately and are not mutually influenced, requirements on steps such as grooving are then reduced, the production cost can be reduced, and other materials different from a ceramic or glass ceramic material can be adopted for manufact
