The invention provides a compact meter and metering equipment. The compact meter is composed of a body and a bearing base which is electrically isolated from the body through mutual splicing. A metering function part is arranged in the body. The body is connected in the corresponding inserting slot of the external bearing base in a plugging way through a plug arranged at the back side of the body. In one embodiment, the bearing base is provided with a mutual inductor component and an electricity taking circuit. Alternating current of a power line is sampled and converted into direct current to be provided for the body through the inserting slot. The metering function part is only provided with a sampling circuit, a metering circuit, a single-chip microcomputer, a communication circuit and a DC conversion circuit, and receives sampling signals provided by the inserting slot and converts direct current into working voltage used for the single-chip microcomputer and the communication circuit. In another embodiment, the bearing base is provided with a wiring slot used for conduction of the power line of a power grid and the mutual inductor component arranged in the wiring slot. The metering function part is provided with the electricity taking circuit, the sampling circuit, the metering circuit, the single-chip microcomputer and the communication circuit.
