Summary:The invention discloses a steel plate for an ultralow temperature pressure vessel and a production method thereof. The steel plate is formed by smelting, by mass, 0.06%-0.09% of C, 0.16%-0.30% of Si, 0.60%-0.70% of Mn, 0.008% or less of P, 0.005% or less of S, 3.50%-3.70% of Ni, 0.07%-0.12% of Mo, 0.15%-0.20% of Cr, 0.020%-0.040% of Alt, and the balance Fe and traces of unavoidable impurities. The design of steel plate alloy is based on Ni-Cr-Mo compounding, the element Ni is adopted for improving the -100 DEG C low temperature impact toughness of the steel plate, and traces of Cr and Mo are also added to refine grains. The steel plate has the characteristics of good low temperature impact toughness and excellent non-destructive testing (NDT) and die welding performance, and production cost is low. By means of the low-carbon equivalent components and the production process of controlled rolling and controlled cooling and tempering (thermal processing), high welding performance and low temperature impact resistance are achieved, and the steel plate is simple in manufacturing process and can be produced in batch.
