Abstract | This device for controlling display of vehicle location performs a forking assessment process when a vehicle passes by a connecting point of a road on which the vehicle is currently traveling, and a forked road forking from the currently traveled road in a direction at an angle equal to or less than a predetermined angle, in order to assess whether the vehicle has advanced onto the forked road, doing so on the basis of the cumulative results for the amount of change in vehicle location and the amount of change in the direction of advance, within a leg that includes the connecting point. In the event that a road connecting to a road that runs parallel to the currently traveled road exists to ahead of the vehicle, a road configuration conversion process to correct the angle of the currently traveled road and the connecting road to no more than a predetermined angle, and designate the parallel road as the forked road for the purposes of the forking assessment process, is performed. In the event that the vehicle is traveling at or above a predetermined speed, the road configuration conversion process is not performed. |
