Abstract The invention relates to the field of an induction quenching technology, especially to a ball-socket workpiece induction quenching method and a locating device. A ball-socket workpiece induction quenching method comprises the following steps: firstly fixing a location tyre onto a workbench of a quench machining tool to make the central location hole of the location tyre to be coaxial with the top center of the quench machining tool; arranging a ball-socket workpiece onto the location tyre through a locating plate; and heating the ball-socket workpiece while letting the location tyre and the locating plate positioned on the location tyre rotate around the top center shaft of the quench machining tool with the workbench. The invention also provides a ball-socket workpiece induction quenching locating device which comprises the hollow location tyre and the locating plate which is detachably installed on the location tyre. The bottom of the location tyre is provided with the central location hole which guarantees that the center of the location tyre is coaxial with the top center of the quench machining tool. The periphery of the central location hole is uniformly provided with multiple lifting-ring screwed holes for assisting hoisting. According to the invention, location is accurate, the ball socket surface is heated and rotates, and heating is more uniform.
